This is a case of misstaken identity. A WFH hooman in a duplex lives with Pickles, a grey tabby famous for side-eye and a purr rate of zero. During a DoorDash delivery, Pickles slips outside. Hours later, scratch-scratch at the door announces a grey tabby return. This cat is unusually sweet, curls on the couch, and fires up a tiny motor. That isn't Pickles' brand, but the hooman blames a life-changing squirrel seminar and welcomes Pickles 2.0.

The next day, the neighbor arrives in a panic asking about Smokey, a friendly grey tabby who purrs at air and dreams of tuna. Eyes drift to the windowsill. The "reformed" Pickles is clearly Smokey, copycat in every sense. Apologies happen, paperwork gets mewved, and Smokey is escorted home after a very thorough surprise sleepover. 

An hour later, the real Pickles clomps in leaf-dusted and unimpressed, reclaiming his post as Chief Judge of Everything. Scoreboard: one accidental catnapping, two near-twins, maximum embarrassment, and a renewed respect for microchips, tags, and knowing a cat's signature scowl. Order restored. Pickles resumes glaring. The hooman resumes laughing.

It's September, and everyone knows what that means. It's the beginning of spooky season, pumpkin season, and cozy season. Wherever you fair better, in fear, in snuggles, or in orange, these cute and scrumptious orange cat memes are sure to get you in the spirit of the new season. Autumn is my favorite season because it brings new life to the barren heat of summer. New life can also resemble decay, in which you get falling leaves and browning of greenery. 

Pumpkin spice season is officially here, and what better way to celebrate than with orange cats who are basically the second best thing to your spiced pumpkin latte from your favorite local cafe? You put on your soft sweater for the first time this season, your cat hair all over it from last winter, and go outside to order your favorite flavored drink. Orange cats are not just cute, they're special for their unique color. Get yourself your pumpkin pie, latte, pasta, dessert, and anything else while you stroke your pretty orange cat and scroll through cat memes. 

All cat people know - every cat deserves love, care, and a place to call home. Cats are such affectionate creatures, full of love just waiting to be given. And another thing every cat person knows, is that we're all here ready to recive that love from cats. It's a meowgical phenomenon, and if you're a cat person, you definitely know it. The magic of cats is their love, and they just want a home to give it in.

And cats know this themselves. How do we know it? Because cats make it very clear. Some feral strays are begging to be adopted, both because they know a loving home is the place to be, and because they know this is where they can give their cat meowgic to the hearty hoomans who adopted them.

One such new cat pawrent shared their story of their cat adoption - a strictly stray orange who was extremely hungry, ate whatever the kind person could give him, and decided: "This is a suitable place. I live here now." Such as he is. The entire online feline family shared their own stories of how street cats basically adopted them. Or, more accurately, adopted themselves into their homes. We're rooting for these brave cats adopting themselves.

If there is one thing that we can pass on to you as expurrt cat owners, it's this: expect the unexpected. Cats are purrfectly unpredictable. They like to keep you on your toes. One second, they love their feather toy, and the next second, it disgusts them more than a dirty litter box. One day, they love the food you've been feeding them for five years, and the next, they won't touch it with a 10-foot pole. But the thing you can never predict, not even if you think you know your cat like the back of your hand, is whether your cat is going to use their cat bed or not.

Yes, our funny feisty felines are all too happy to inform us that the $70 we spent on their orthopedic cat bed is purrrely decorative. A piece of meowdern art, if you will. To be appreciated visually, but not touched. Why should they touch it, when they have a purrfectly nice cardboard box to lie down in? Or, even better yet, an empty egg carton? Our cats will sleep in literally anything except their cat beds, but the second we try to take them away, they'll become interested. Purrhaps they're not so unpredictable after all.

It's Meownday, which means that we have a whole week ahead of us. Though you never really take a break from being a cat parent, you are without your fuzzy feline for a good chunk of the day when you're at work all week! This would obviously put you down in the dumps because, obviously, we want to be with our cat babies all the time! Unless you have a nanny cat cam in your home, you have no idea what your child is up to at all times of the day. Sure, you can Google kitty pictures to try and scratch that funny feline itch, but it pales in comparison to actual cat memes. Which, coincidentally (but not really at all), we have here for all pet parents today!

Those pesky work days have us all going stir crazy, especially when we feel like we have an entire year ahead of us. The Cat Distribution System clocked in right on schedule. Two hoomans and their herding dogs finished a dusk walk, returned to a parking lot full of school buses, and discovered a black kitten posted beside their car like he had the keys. They sat, waited, and the feline filed his adoption paperwork in biscuits and purrs. Middle of nowhere plus rumors of dumped kittens turned chance into rescue, and the passenger seat into destiny.

On the way home they did the classic CDS double-run: dogs dropped off, supplies scooped up, tiny hitchhiker installed on a warm lap. He purred like a little motor, kneaded like a pastry chef, and sampled watermelon mouse and strawberry mouse toys with great professionalism. He looks around five to six months, feather-light, already eating well and using the box like a pro. A clinic date is booked for the full glow-up shortly.

For two biologists, naming him Mr. Frizzle after a school-bus meet-cute feels just right. The dogs will learn the new classroom rules, the cat will teach extra-credit cuddles, and the Cat Distribution System will stamp this rescue "delivered."
